Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress have started their scheduled 2-day nationwide protests in several parts of the country.

As early as 7:00 am, protesters started gathering in different parts of the country, bearing placards and putting on the paraphernalia of the NLC.

In several states including Lagos, Kano, Oyo, Bauchi, and Ogun, among other several states, members of the NLC and its affiliate unions commenced their activities to hold protest rallies.

In Lagos state, there was a heavy presence of Policemen at major junctions along the three-kilometre planned protest route, following the Force’s promise to ensure peace and order during the protests.

The rally comes hours after a last-minute effort by the Federal Government to stop the NLC two-day national protests, failed during a late Monday night meeting with NLC leadership.
