Nollywood Epic ‘Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju)’ Rakes in N16 Million on Opening Day

Nollywood’s latest cinematic masterpiece, “Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju)” produced by Eniola Ajao in collaboration with Niyi Akinmolayan‘s Anthill Studios, has achieved a remarkable feat by grossing 16 million Naira on its opening day of release.

According to data from Nigeria Box Office X, the film is on track to dominate the box office, with projections of earning between N55 million and N62 million over the weekend, spanning from Friday to Monday.

Premiering on March 25, 2024, just ahead of the Easter celebrations, “Ajakaju” officially hit cinemas on March 29, 2024. Directed by Odunlade Adekola and Adebayo Tijani, the movie delves into the gripping tale of a king on the brink of banishment due to his wives’ inability to conceive a male heir.

In a bold move to secure his lineage, the king takes a new wife from another realm. However, her arrival brings unforeseen chaos, forcing the king to confront his deepest fears and defend his legacy.

“Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju)” boasts an ensemble cast featuring renowned actors such as Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Mercy Aigbe Kazeem, Faithia Williams, Lateef Adedimeji, Sola Sobowale, Ibrahim Chatta, and Fathia Balogun.

The movie’s stellar performance on its opening day establishes it as the highest-grossing Nigerian film debut of 2024. In a 2022 interview, the producer disclosed that the movie underwent over three weeks of production.

Shot by Idowu Adedapo, acclaimed for his work on blockbuster films like “Wedding Party”, “King of Boys”, “Chief Daddy”, “Dear Affy”, and “Oloture”, among others, “Ajakaju” offers a visual extravaganza crafted by Lighthouse Pictures and Anthill Studios, distributed by Film One Entertainment.
