Nottingham Forest Football Club is relieved to confirm that striker Taiwo Awoniyi has regained consciousness following a successful emergency surgery to treat a serious abdominal injury sustained during the club’s recent match against Leicester City.

Awoniyi suffered the injury after colliding with the goalpost while attempting to reach a cross during the 2-2 draw on Sunday. Despite receiving medical attention on the pitch, he continued playing before being substituted. He was later rushed to the hospital, where he underwent a complex surgical procedure to address the potentially life-threatening condition.

The operation was completed as planned, and Awoniyi is now awake and surrounded by his family as he continues his recovery under close medical supervision. Nottingham Forest extends its gratitude to the medical team for their swift and expert care, as well as to fans and the football community for their overwhelming support and well wishes during this difficult time.
