As of March 1, 2025, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members are still receiving ₦33,000 as their monthly allowance, despite the Federal Government’s earlier approval of an increase to ₦77,000.

In September 2024, the government announced that corps members would start receiving ₦77,000 from July 2024 following the proposed minimum wage adjustment. However, the implementation has been delayed.

In January 2025, NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed assured corps members that the new allowance would take effect in February 2025 after the passage of the federal budget. But reports indicate that corps members still received ₦33,000 for their February stipends, raising concerns about the delay.

So far, there has been no official explanation from the NYSC or government authorities regarding the status of the approved increment. Corps members and stakeholders are awaiting further updates on when the new allowance will be implemented.
