Nigerian entrepreneur and well-known socialite Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly called Obi Cubana, has issued a strong academic challenge to his five sons following his wife’s recent educational milestone.

His wife, Ebiere Iyiegbu—known publicly as Lush Eby—recently earned a distinction in her Master’s degree in International Business Management from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. The accomplishment attracted widespread praise and was celebrated with a special gathering attended by friends and family.

Speaking at the celebration, Obi Cubana, who had recently been in the news over a next-of-kin controversy, used the moment to deliver a heartfelt message to his children. He emphasized the significance of their mother’s achievement and told his sons that they are expected to match or surpass her academic success.

He jokingly warned that any of them who fails to meet the standard set by their mother would face his disciplinary action, stating that he would not tolerate underperformance in their studies.

“I challenge my boys, if your mum, after five of you, plus me in the midst of all these, will come out with a distinction, anybody that will perform below her, I’ll flog their backsides.”
