Victor Osimhen delivered a match-winning performance as Galatasaray edged past fierce rivals Fenerbahçe 2-1 to book their place in the Turkish Cup semi-finals. The Nigerian striker’s first-half brace proved decisive, condemning José Mourinho’s side to defeat in a heated encounter.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a thunderous strike, latching onto a loose ball after a contested aerial duel. He doubled Galatasaray’s lead in the 27th minute, capitalizing on a goalkeeping error as İrfan Eğribayat spilled his weak effort into the net.
Fenerbahçe hit back before halftime through Sebastian Szymański, who coolly converted after a well-worked move involving Anderson Talisca. The second half was a tense, hard-fought battle, with both teams cancelling each other out.
The drama peaked in stoppage time when Barış Yılmaz saw red in the 92nd minute, adding late controversy to an already feisty clash. With the victory, Galatasaray move a step closer to their first Turkish Cup triumph since 2019.
Meanwhile, Osimhen’s red-hot form continues, racking up 32 goal contributions in 32 games this season, including 10 goals in his last 10 outings for the Istanbul giants.
