A recent livestream sparked widespread outrage after popular TikToker Peller belittled Nigerian Afrobeats star Runtown, labeling him an emerging talent. The controversy began when co-streamer Sandra Benede suggested featuring Runtown, only to be shut down by Peller.

Peller’s scathing remarks, in which he claimed Runtown “never blew” and was unknown, ignited a firestorm of criticism. Many condemned his condescending attitude toward the acclaimed Afrobeats innovator, who has enjoyed a successful career with hits like “Gallardo” and “Mad Over You.”

The backlash was intensified by Peller’s previous collaborations with top artists, including Olamide, Tiwa Savage, and Davido, making his dismissal of Runtown seem particularly tone-deaf.
