Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, led a delegation to Borno State, donating ₦50 million to victims of the recent devastating floods.

Accompanied by top officials, including Senator Nenadi Usman and Datti Baba-Ahmed, Obi paid a solidarity visit to Governor Babagana Zulum.

The delegation met with the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba Al Amin El-Kanemi, and visited affected areas, including:

1. Bank of the North spare parts market

2. An IDP camp in Government College

3. A woman who lost her newborn twins to the flood

Obi assured that the Labour Party’s support goes beyond the initial donation, committing to provide ongoing aid and resources for recovery.

The floods have claimed lives, destroyed properties, and displaced thousands, with estimated costs running high.

Obi praised the Borno State government’s intervention and support, promising:

“We will continue to stand with the people of Borno, providing aid and resources to help them rebuild and recover.”

He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured and eternal rest for those who lost their lives.

The Labour Party’s donation is part of a broader response to the crisis, with other governments and organizations also providing support.
