Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, recently visited Peter University Achina and the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi Nnukwu, where he made a donation of N60 million.
On his X (formerly Twitter) page, Obi explained the purpose behind his donation, stating:
“In line with my belief that health and education are key drivers of poverty alleviation and essential for the development of a New Nigeria, I visited Peter University in Achina, Anambra State, and donated N50 million. I then visited the College of Nursing Sciences in Adazi Nnukwu, where I contributed an additional N10 million.
These visits and donations reflect my commitment to building a productive nation by investing in critical sectors like health, education, and poverty eradication.
I have always maintained that no nation can develop without a healthy and educated workforce. With Nigeria’s predominantly youthful population, it is vital we prioritize their future through investment in these areas.
By doing so, we will cultivate a nation of healthy, educated citizens who will actively contribute to the country’s growth and development.
I thank the proprietors, management, staff, and students of both institutions for their invaluable contributions to our health and education sectors.
A New and Productive Nigeria is Possible. -PO”
