Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has shared his plans for life after business and politics.
Speaking on Friday, Obi revealed that he intends to retire to Onitsha as a secondary school teacher to inspire young minds.
He made this statement while addressing final-year students of Dennis Memorial Grammar School in Onitsha during an event to mark the International Day of Education.
âI was just passing by when I decided to join you in celebrating the International Day of Education. I felt it was important to speak to students,â Obi said. He also noted that the school would celebrate its 100th anniversary the next day, which motivated his visit.
Emphasizing the value of education, Obi stated, âEducation is the most important asset for success. Your presence here shows you are already on the path to success. Some of you are potential governors and presidents, so take your education seriously.”
Recounting a personal experience, he said, âIn 1970, I stood at this schoolâs gate to salute General Gowon during his visit. Years later, through education, I was privileged to sit at the same table with him to make decisions.”
Obi concluded by expressing his aspiration to inspire the next generation, saying, âI hope to retire to Onitsha someday and become a teacher to guide and motivate children.â
