A petrol-laden tanker went up in flames on Wednesday along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, directly in front of the NASFAT prayer camp, causing panic among motorists and residents.

According to eyewitnesses, the tanker reportedly fell while in motion and ignited shortly after, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky.

An X user, SegunOladejo_, who identifies as #EndSARS Segun | Legal, posted: “A tanker is burning on Lagos-Ibadan expressway just opposite NASFAT praying ground. The fire is horrible.” As of the time of this report, emergency responders had yet to arrive at the scene.

This incident follows a similar tanker explosion on Monday between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo areas of the same expressway. Although there were no casualties reported, the earlier fire caused heavy traffic and took hours for the Oyo State Fire Service to extinguish.
