A tragic petrol tanker explosion occurred in Majiya town, Jigawa State, on Tuesday night, resulting in the loss of at least 105 lives.

The tanker, traveling from Kano to Nguru town in Yobe State, lost control near Khadija University at approximately 11:30 pm, causing a massive explosion.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Shiisu Adam, 55 people were injured and hospitalized at Ringim General Hospital, with some later transferred to Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu due to limited capacity.

Many victims died attempting to scoop fuel from the tanker after the accident, leading to the devastating explosion. The severity of the burns has necessitated preparations for a mass burial.

This disaster underscores the risks associated with petroleum transportation and highlights the importance of caution in such situations.
