The Kwara State Police Command has arrested several suspects in connection with the murder of Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old final-year student from the Kwara State College of Health Technology.
We reported that Mojisola’s lifeless body was discovered at a refuse dump in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin on August 11, 2024.
The disturbing find was reported by Mr. Olorunoje, a resident, who stumbled upon the body while returning from the mosque.
According to a statement issued by Police Public Relations Officer DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, a missing persons report was filed by Miss Blessing O. on August 13, 2024.
Miss Blessing, a resident of Gbomi’s area in Offa, Kwara State, reported that her roommate, Mojisola, had been missing since August 9, 2024.
Miss Mojisola was last heard from after receiving a phone call from Timileyin, who had introduced her to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student from Summit University.
Happiness had reportedly invited Mojisola to a night party under the guise of hiring her as his girlfriend for a fee of fifteen thousand naira (#15,000.00).
Upon arriving in Ilorin, Mojisola expressed her unease about the situation and mentioned that the party did not appear to be taking place as promised.
Shortly thereafter, her phone went silent, and all attempts by Miss Blessing to reach her failed.
The police were alerted to the case of culpable homicide on August 12, 2024, when the body of an unidentified female was discovered at the refuse dump.
The scene was examined by detectives, who found traces of blood near the victim’s ear. The body was transported to the General Hospital in Ilorin, where it was later identified as Mojisola’s.
The Kwara State Police Command has since arrested several suspects connected to the case, which has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation.
Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya has pledged a thorough investigation to uncover the facts surrounding Mojisola’s death and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
