Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, wife of retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, following her abduction on January 16, 2025.

Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the rescue in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, detailing how Ogun State police operatives, aided by the Force Headquarters technical intelligence platforms, engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight in a swampy area of Ikorodu on Wednesday.

Two kidnappers were neutralized during the operation, while others fled, abandoning four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, various ammunition, and ₦10 million ransom previously paid. Mrs. Odumosu was rescued unharmed and reunited with her family after a medical evaluation.

Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the operatives and Ogun State Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo for their swift and effective action, reiterating the Police Force’s commitment to combating violent crimes.
