Prominent social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. The arrest, which took place on Sunday, follows allegations of cyberstalking, according to sources within the EFCC.
A spokesperson from the Commission, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the activist was detained after multiple complaints were lodged against him, citing online harassment and intimidation. These allegations reportedly contravene the Cybercrimes Act of 2015.
VeryDarkMan, known for his outspoken views on social and political issues, has had previous legal encounters, including defamation lawsuits and impersonation charges. His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has confirmed plans to secure his release, stating that formal charges have yet to be disclosed
