Posters of Goodluck Jonathan for 2027 Presidential Election Appear in Kano, Raising Speculation

Posters featuring former President Goodluck Jonathan for the 2027 presidential election appeared in major roundabouts across Kano on Thursday morning, sparking surprise among residents.

The posters, with the message “Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for President, 2027, He is our Messiah,” have raised questions, as the identities and motives of those behind them remain unclear, especially given that the Tinubu administration has only been in power for a year.

While it is common for many Nigerians, particularly in Kano, to reflect on and praise the achievements of Jonathan’s tenure, the sudden appearance of these posters marks a new political development.

Despite Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, repeatedly denying any interest in running for president, the emergence of these posters could signal a shift in the narrative.

Only time will tell whether Jonathan has presidential ambitions or if this is simply speculative political maneuvering.
