Presidency Directs Head of Service, other Agencies to Comply with Senate Invitations

The Nigerian Presidency has instructed the Head of Service, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to honor Senate invitations.

This directive, issued by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizes cooperation between government bodies and the National Assembly.

Senator Basheer Lado, Special Adviser on Senate Matters, stressed that responding to Senate summons demonstrates public service dedication and reinforces confidence in government.

He noted that compliance aligns with constitutional obligations and President Tinubu’s vision of a responsive, accountable, and effective government.

This move supports Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, aimed at delivering rapid and transformative governance. Key areas of focus include national security, economy, agriculture, power, oil and gas, transportation, and education.

The directive follows the Senate’s decision to issue arrest warrants for agency heads who failed to appear before the Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, including Mrs. Walson-Jack, Works Minister David Umahi, and NiDCOM Chairman Abike Dabiri-Erewa.

Senator Lado reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency and timely cooperation between the Executive and Legislature.

He urged MDAs to prioritize Senate engagements, showcasing their dedication to accountability and good governance.
