President Bola Tinubu Appoints Major General Olufemi Oluyede as Acting Chief of Army Staff

In a statement released on Wednesday, Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga announced that President Bola Tinubu has appointed Major General Olufemi Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff.

Oluyede assumes the role temporarily, pending the return of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who is currently abroad for medical treatment.

A seasoned military officer, Oluyede boasts an impressive career spanning over three decades. His previous roles include:

Commander, Infantry Corps, Nigerian Army (Jaji, Kaduna)

Platoon Commander and Adjutant, 65 Battalion

Company Commander, 177 Guards Battalion

Staff Officer, Guards Brigade

Commandant, Amphibious Training School

Commander, 27 Task Force Brigade (Operation HADIN KAI)

Oluyede’s notable operations include:

ECOMOG Mission in Liberia

Operation HARMONY IV in Bakassi

Operation HADIN KAI in the Northeast

His dedication has earned him several honors:

Corps Medal of Honour

Grand Service Star

Recognition for Passing the Staff Course

Membership in the National Institute

As Acting Chief of Army Staff, Oluyede brings strategic leadership and expertise to the role.
