President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has congratulates the Flying Eagles, Nigeria’s U20 men’s football team, for qualifying for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile 2025 despite a 1-0 semi-final loss to South Africa at the AFCON U20 tournament in Egypt, highlighting their achievement of securing one of Africa’s four World Cup spots through a prior shootout win against Senegal.
“The Flying Eagles have once again demonstrated the strength and talent of Nigerian football on the continental stage. Their journey through the AFCON U20 tournament was nothing short of inspiring, and their qualification for the FIFA U20 World Cup is a testament to their hard work, discipline, and dedication,” President Tinubu stated.
The President commended the coaching staff, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and all stakeholders who contributed to the team’s success, emphasizing the importance of continued support for youth football development in Nigeria.
