President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Opeyemi Bright and Jason Jackson, two British-Nigerians who have made history with their election as mayors in London.

Opeyemi Bright, at just 29 years old, has become the youngest-ever Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, while Jason Jackson has been sworn in as the first Nigerian-born Mayor of Islington since the borough’s establishment in 1900.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised the two leaders for their dedication to integrity, service, and leadership. He described their achievements as a source of inspiration for young people globally.

“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I warmly congratulate Mayors Opeyemi Bright and Jason Jackson,” President Tinubu stated. “I trust in your abilities and look forward to the positive changes you will bring to your communities as first citizens of your respective boroughs.”
