President Donald Trump has urged India and Pakistan to cease their recent military clashes, appealing for restraint and diplomacy in handling tensions between the two nuclear nations.
During a White House speech, President Trump addressed the mounting situation and stated, “I get along with both countries very well, and I want to see them work it out. I want to see them stop. Hopefully, they can stop now.” Recountering his offer of assistance in mediation, he further stated, “If I can help, I will be there.”
The tension was exacerbated following India’s air strikes against suspected terror camps in Pakistan, a retaliatory measure New Delhi presented as response to a recent attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir that killed several people. Pakistan has warned of retaliation, heightening tensions in the region further.
