Bayo Onanuga, spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has officially announced the exit of suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Betta Edu, from the cabinet.
Onanuga made this declaration during his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday, ending months of speculation about Edu’s potential reinstatement.
“The position has been taken over by someone else – specifically, Nentawe from Plateau,” Onanuga stated. “For this government, there is no place for her in the cabinet.”
Onanuga also hinted at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) submitting information that justified President Tinubu’s decision, although details remain undisclosed.
Edu’s suspension followed an investigation into an alleged N585 million cash transfer scandal under her ministry. Her exit from the cabinet marks a definitive conclusion to her tenure.
