A private jet conveying about 10 persons including Very Important Personalities (VIPs) has crash-landed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Reports say the jet crash-landed on Friday around 11 am at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport after it missed the runway and skidded into the nearby bush.

Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria were immediately deployed to the scene. Fortunately, there was no death or casualty recorded.

A spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Carol Adekotujo said “It was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty”.

The incident comes a few months after a similar incident at the same Ibadan Airport. In November 2023, the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaped death when a plane he was on board crash-landed at the same airport.
