Akure, the Ondo State capital, has witnessed a series of protests in recent days as residents express frustration over rising insecurity.

On March 27, 2025, students took to the streets to protest the increasing cases of kidnapping, calling on the government and security agencies to take urgent action. The demonstrators voiced concerns over the growing threat to their safety and demanded immediate intervention.

In a separate protest last week, farmers in Akure North Local Government Area staged a demonstration following the alleged killing of five people by armed herdsmen in Aba Oyinbo. The grieving farmers carried the bodies of the slain victims to the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, demanding justice and stronger security measures.

These protests reflect growing tension in the region, with residents urging authorities to address the escalating security crisis.
