The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has stated that due process must be followed in the case of TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo, known as Seaking303, despite General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s earlier call for his release.

Seaking was arrested in Lagos by the Nigeria Police and transferred to the Federal Investigation Department (FID) in Abuja under the directive of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dasuki Galandanchi. He faces charges of cyberbullying after a viral TikTok video in which he called Pastor Adeboye “very stupid and foolish” for imposing a 100-day fast on his congregation.

Adeboye had publicly called for Seaking’s release, saying, “He is fulfilling prophecy.” However, RCCG has now released a statement clarifying that the law must take its course.

The church explained that its revised stance follows a “careful review of the concerns raised regarding certain statements and allegations in the video.”

“There has been a video in circulation calling for the release of Olumide Ogunsanwo (Seaking303) by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye. However, it is important to note that the earlier videos containing potentially defamatory statements had not been thoroughly examined.

“Upon careful review of the concerns raised regarding certain statements and allegations, it has become necessary to allow the law to take its course.”

The church emphasized that Pastor Adeboye’s statement at the Holy Ghost Service Night should not be misinterpreted as an attempt to interfere in an ongoing police investigation. It also pointed out that a formal complaint had been lodged by the Concerned Christian Youth Forum on behalf of the Fathers of Faith, including Adeboye.

“Therefore, we trust that the relevant authorities will carry out their investigations professionally and reach a just conclusion based on the law. While Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye maintains a heart of love and reconciliation, due process must be followed.”

RCCG further warned against cyberbullying and inappropriate comments directed at Adeboye, the church, or the Christian faith. It reiterated the importance of respectful discourse, stating, “Respect for spiritual leaders is a deeply held value in our faith and culture.”
