Wife of Nigeria’s President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, speaking out against the phenomenon of Nigerians migrating to developed countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, has highlighted the irony of individuals engaging in jobs abroad that they refuse to do in Nigeria.
The First Lady pointed out that many Nigerians, despite their level of education, opt to pursue menial jobs such as taxi driving in foreign countries to sustain themselves, often leaving behind dependents in Nigeria.
These remarks were made during a courtesy visit by three Lagos senators – Adetokunbo Abiru, Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni, and Ranti Idiat Adebule – to the State House in Abuja last week.
A video of the conversation, shared by Arise TV on Thursday, has sparked widespread reactions from Nigerians.
The First Lady emphasized the importance of Nigerians supporting each other domestically, suggesting that while the government cannot address all challenges, the affluent in society can play a significant role in uplifting the less fortunate for the collective welfare of the nation.
