Reps Deputy Chief Whip Adewunmi Onanuga Dies At 59

The House of Representatives has announced the passing of its Deputy Chief Whip, Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, representing the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency of Ogun State.

A statement released yesterday in Abuja by House Spokesman Akintunde Rotimi confirmed that the lawmaker died after a brief illness.

Born on December 2, 1965, Onanuga was first elected to the House in 2019 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was reelected in 2023.

During the Ninth Assembly, she served as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, where she championed initiatives aimed at empowering women and improving social welfare.
