Roberto De Zerbi to leave Albion after Manchester United match

Brighton & Hove Albion has announced that head coach Roberto De Zerbi will be departing the club following tomorrow’s final Premier League match against Manchester United at the American Express Stadium.

De Zerbi, who joined the club in September 2022, has led Brighton to unprecedented success, including a historic top-flight finish in the 2022/23 season and a remarkable run to the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League.

Chairman Tony Bloom praised De Zerbi’s contributions, saying, “Roberto has given us two outstanding seasons, leading the club to new heights and creating memories that will last a lifetime for Albion fans.

We have mutually agreed to end his contract at a time that suits both parties, allowing us to plan for next season and Roberto to consider his future.”

De Zerbi expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am proud of what we have achieved, and I appreciate the support of the club, staff, and fans. I have enjoyed my time in the Premier League, competing in four major competitions this season. Leaving now allows me to take a break and consider my future plans.”

De Zerbi’s departure will be accompanied by his coaching staff, including Andrea Maldera, Ricard Segarra, Marcattilio Marcattilii, Vincenzo Teresa, Agostino Tibaudi, Marcello Quinto, and Enrico Venturelli. However, club coaches Andrew Crofts and Jack Stern will remain with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The club has expressed its appreciation for De Zerbi’s service and wishes him well in his future endeavors. Fans will have the opportunity to bid farewell to De Zerbi and his staff during tomorrow’s match.
