Samsung Electronics co-CEO Han Jong-Hee passed away on Tuesday at the age of 63 due to cardiac arrest, a spokesperson for the South Korean tech giant confirmed.

Born in 1962, Han had been overseeing Samsung’s consumer electronics and mobile devices businesses since 2022. That same year, he was appointed vice chairman and co-CEO alongside Jun Young-Hyun, who leads the company’s semiconductor division.

In an internal message seen by CNN, Samsung honored Han’s contributions, highlighting his 37 years of dedication to the company. The message credited him with leading Samsung’s TV business to global prominence and strengthening its electronics and appliances divisions despite a “challenging business environment.”

“Our deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the company stated.

Samsung has not yet announced a successor, the spokesperson added.
