Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has described the latest meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum as highly productive, with discussions centered on the party’s present challenges and future direction.

The meeting, held at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, brought together serving and former PDP governors, alongside other key stakeholders. The deliberations focused on strengthening party unity, addressing internal concerns, and preparing for upcoming events, including the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for May 27 and the forthcoming national convention.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the formation of a seven-member committee, chaired by Dr. Saraki, tasked with ensuring a smooth and harmonious NEC session. The committee includes Governors Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), and Peter Mbah (Enugu), alongside Senator Seriake Dickson, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

Speaking after the meeting, Dr. Saraki emphasized the importance of unity and strategic planning in revitalizing the PDP. “We had a fruitful deliberation on the party’s present challenges and its future. The meeting was well attended, and we are committed to ensuring a rancour-free NEC meeting and a successful national convention,” he stated.

The PDP Governors Forum reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening the party’s structures and fostering reconciliation among members. The discussions also addressed recent defections and internal disputes, with leaders expressing optimism about the party’s ability to navigate these challenges and emerge stronger.
