Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, famously known as Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince,” celebrated his 36th birthday on April 18, 2025, despite being in a coma for nearly two decades following a tragic accident.

In 2005, while studying at a military college in London, Prince Al-Waleed suffered a severe brain haemorrhage due to a devastating car crash. Since then, he has remained in a non-responsive state, receiving continuous care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh.

Despite repeated medical advice to discontinue life support, his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, has steadfastly refused, holding firm to his faith and belief in his son’s recovery.
“If God had wanted him to die in the accident, he would have been in his grave now,” Prince Khaled once stated, emphasizing his unwavering devotion.

Over the years, Prince Al-Waleed has shown occasional slight movements, such as subtle finger twitches and head shifts, though he has not regained full consciousness. These minimal signs have kept the hope alive for his devoted family, especially his father, who remains a constant presence at his side.

The prince’s 36th birthday saw a wave of heartfelt tributes and prayers flooding social media. Supporters shared emotional messages and nostalgic family photos, expressing solidarity and hope.
Princess Rima bint Talal, a close relative, also took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a poignant tribute:
“My beloved Al-Waleed, twenty-one years and you are always present in our hearts. O Allah, heal Your servant Al-Waleed.”

Prince Al-Waleed, a great-grandson of King Abdulaziz, the founder of Saudi Arabia, has become a global symbol of resilience, patience, and enduring faith. Although medical experts view the chances of a full recovery as slim after so many years, his family continues to hope that future medical advancements may one day offer a miracle.
