A heavy presence of security operatives at the main gate of the University of Lagos have disrupted the planned protest of some students over a hike in school fees.

On Wednesday morning, officers of the Department of State Services (DSS), police and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were on the ground to ensure that the planned protest does not hold, ensuring that no student is allowed entry on campus as some students are seen hanging around the gate.

A student who spoke to newsmen said they were dispersed with teargas this morning while trying to converge.

Beesreign Media had reported that the National Association of Nigerian Students warned the DSS against stopping students from protesting, but despite their call, the protest was still disrupted.
