The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) is urging President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action to release detained #EndBadGovernance protesters, including 32 children who are reportedly hungry and malnourished. SERAP is calling on the President to direct Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi to ensure the immediate and unconditional release of these children and other protesters who were peacefully exercising their rights.

SERAP emphasizes that detaining children violates their rights to education and expression. They’re also pushing for investigations into alleged human rights violations and accountability for those responsible. The organization is concerned about the poor conditions in Nigerian detention facilities, which put detainees’ lives at risk.

SERAP demands the immediate release of the detained protesters, investigations into human rights violations, and improved detention conditions. Their work focuses on promoting transparency, accountability, and respect for socio-economic rights in Nigeria, advocating for good governance and human rights since 2004.
