Seun Kuti, Afrobeat musician and activist, has called on African governments to bar Kemi Badenoch, leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, from visiting the continent.

Badenoch recently faced criticism after reiterating controversial remarks about Nigeria, where she claimed her upbringing was marred by fear, insecurity, and corruption. Vice President Kashim Shettima and others have accused her of denigrating the country.

During an Instagram live session, Kuti condemned Badenoch for her alleged statements, including claims that Africans should compensate Europeans for colonialism.

Kuti stated, “Many praise this woman, but she insults us and our ancestors. She says we should pay Europeans for killing millions of our people and the atrocities they committed in our lands. African governments should ban her, and if she steps into Africa, she should be jailed.”
