A Sharia Court sitting in Kano state has remanded a 23-year-old man, Abdulwahab Yusuf, in a correctional facility for allegedly stealing cow skin, (ponmo) worth N8,500.

Abdulwahab Yusuf was arraigned before the court on a charge of theft. The Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Fatihu Auwal, had on August 5 reported to the Fagge Police Station that the suspect entered her shop and stole the ‘ponmo’.

The suspect who pleaded guilty was then remanded by the Judge, Umar Lawal-Abubakar, until August 22 when the court opens summary trial.
