Simisola Kosoko, a renowned Nigerian singer known as Simi, has taken to social media to advocate for the welfare of firstborns within families.

In a heartfelt tweet, she urged families to afford their firstborns a break, emphasizing that they shouldn’t bear the burden of everyone else.

As the youngest of four children, with her parents separating when she was nine years old, Simi shared her insights into the challenges often faced by firstborns.

Simi stressed the importance of allowing firstborns some breathing space, pointing out that being born first shouldn’t automatically translate to carrying the responsibilities of the entire family. She expressed concern that many firstborns might find it challenging to express their true feelings, given the societal expectation for them to be strong and responsible.

Additionally, Simi offered guidance to firstborns, encouraging them to learn to say no and establish boundaries. She emphasized that firstborns also deserve peace and should not feel compelled to constantly shoulder the weight of others’ expectations.
