It has taken several months of court proceedings, but Nigerian social media influencer Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu, better known as Ijele Speaks, will on this Thursday be appearing in court for the first time since his case was fully transferred to Lagos.

Ofoegbu, known for his candid opinion on social and political issues, found himself in a court trial for criminal intimidation, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying. The case had previously been handled in Abuja but was dismissed by a magistrate who deemed the case outside of their jurisdiction. The latest ruling has now confirmed that the trial will indeed proceed in Lagos, where the influencer will stand trial formally.

The case has generated intense public interest, with his supporters demanding Ofoegbu’s freedom and his opponents calling for accountability. His lawyers have remained upbeat, assuring of a fair trial, emphasizing that they were committed to defending his rights under Nigerian law.
