Soldiers Reportedly Surround Rivers State Government House, Confine Governor Fubara

Reports indicate that heavily armed soldiers have surrounded the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, allegedly confining Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his family within the premises.

This follows President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending the governor, his deputy, and the state legislature for six months due to escalating political tensions and security concerns.

The crisis intensified after the Rivers State House of Assembly initiated impeachment proceedings against Fubara. In response, militant groups threatened to attack oil installations if the impeachment moved forward.
