Songstress, Ayra Starr marks 22nd birthday today

Today, June 14, 2024, marks the 22nd birthday of Nigerian singer and songwriter Ayra Starr.

Born Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe in 2002 in Cotonou, Benin, she rose to fame in 2021 with her eponymous debut extended play and its hit track “Away.”

She achieved mainstream international recognition in 2022 with the release of her song “Rush,” which became the most streamed solo song by a Nigerian female artist on Spotify.

As of 2024, she became the first Nigerian female artist on the Billboard 200 chart with her album “The Year I Turned 21.”
