The legal community and residents of Anambra State are in mourning following the tragic assassination of Barrister Ifeanyi Iloakasi, a respected lawyer and community leader, along with his client. The incident occurred at the Nanka-Agulu boundary in Orumba North Local Government Area while the victims were returning from a court session.

According to reports, the victims were ambushed by gunmen suspected to be assassins, who trailed them before launching a deadly attack. Barrister Iloakasi, who was driving a red Toyota Camry, was shot dead at the scene, while his client, who attempted to flee, was pursued and also killed.

The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the attack and stated that another victim survived the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment. The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has visited the crime scene and ordered an intensive investigation to track down the perpetrators.

Barrister Iloakasi was known for his dedication to justice and had recently secured the release of an accused person in a pending murder case at High Court II, Ekwulobia, a development that may have contributed to the attack.
