The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has issued a press statement to correct widespread misinformation that the national grid collapsed. According to the TCN, the grid remains stable, despite two transmission line trips that occurred earlier today.

The incidents involved the Osogbo-Ihovbor and Benin-Omotosho lines, which affected bulk supply to the Lagos axis only. Prior to the trips, the total generation on the grid was 4,335.63MW, and after the incidents, generation was 2,573.23MW.

The TCN assured that the affected power plants, including Egbin, Olorunsogo, Omotosho, Geregu, and Paras, have been restored, except for the Benin-Omotosho 330kV line, which is currently being repaired.

The TCN emphasized the importance of accurate information dissemination, cautioning against the negative impact of spreading misinformation.
