Mrs. Stella Nwadigo, a teacher filmed mistreating a 3-year-old boy, Abayomi Michael, during a writing lesson, has been arrested.

Nwadigo, who works at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, was seen slapping and shouting at the child as he struggled to write the numeral “6.”

The teacher’s actions sparked public outrage, prompting a swift response from the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).

A statement from Lagos DSVA regarding the teacher’s arrest read:

“We thank everyone who alerted us to the disturbing incident involving a teacher recorded physically abusing a 3-year-old boy.

“We are pleased to announce that the teacher has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and an investigation is underway. Educational institutions must provide safe, nurturing, and protective environments for all children in their care.

“The State Government is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child by enforcing strict regulations, holding offenders accountable, and collaborating with stakeholders to promote a zero-tolerance policy for abuse in any form.”
