Nigerian singer and two-time Grammy Award winner Tems, performed at this year’s highly anticipated Roots Picnic.
Tems, who toured five continents supporting her debut album Born in the Wild last year, is no stranger to performing at major festivals, including last year’s Coachella and Glastonbury Festival in 2023. She followed in the footsteps of fellow African music stars who have graced the festival’s stage.
The event featured an impressive roster of talent, including neo-soul legend D’Angelo, rock icon Lenny Kravitz, rapper Meek Mill, as well as rising stars like Latto, GloRilla, Miguel, and Kaytranada.
Returning for its 17th edition, the Roots Picnic took place on May 31 and June 1, 2025, at Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park. The festival, created and hosted by the acclaimed American hip-hop collective The Roots, continues to serve as a celebration of diverse musical genres and cultural heritage.
This year’s festival also marks a significant milestone: the 30th anniversary of Do You Want More?!!!??!, the groundbreaking sophomore album by The Roots. Since its inception in 2007, Over the years, the festival has attracted legendary and contemporary artists, such as Lil Wayne, The Weeknd, Pharrell, Nas, A$AP Rocky, and Solange.
In addition to Tems, this year’s lineup featured acclaimed artists such as Pusha T, 2 Chainz, Adam Blackstone, and the Backyard Band.
