President Bola Tinubu has joined other business and political leaders to mourn the death of the Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe.

Herbert Wigwe died alongside his wife, son, and a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, in a helicopter crash in California, USA.

Reacting to the development, the President in a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, described the helicopter crash as an overwhelming tragedy.

The statement read, “President Tinubu describes their passing as “an overwhelming tragedy that is shocking beyond comprehension.”

“The President condoles with the Wigwe and Ogunbanjo families, the business community, and all those impacted by this harrowing incident.

“President Tinubu prays for the peaceful repose of the departed and asks God Almighty to comfort the multitude of Nigerians who are grieving and the families of the deceased at this deeply agonizing moment”.

Other prominent Nigerians including the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and Governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun and Uba Sani, billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, have all mourned the death of the late banker.
