Pesident Bola Tinubu has extended birthday wishes to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, as he marks his 65th birthday, despite recent tensions between them.

Reports indicate that their relationship has become strained, with El-Rufai openly criticizing the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration and accusing close associates of the president of engaging in tribal politics.

However, in a statement issued on Sunday, February 16, 2025, by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised El-Rufai as a scholar, administrator, and politician.

The president commended El-Rufai’s contributions to democracy, his service to the nation, and his role in mentoring younger leaders. He also acknowledged his involvement in the formation of the APC and his contributions to the party’s victories in the 2015, 2019, and 2023 elections.

Tinubu wished El-Rufai good health and strength for continued service to the nation.
