President Bola Tinubu has been listed as one of the world’s most corrupt leaders by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP).

In a global poll spotlighting individuals notorious for fostering corruption and criminal activities, Tinubu ranked third, following Kenyan President William Ruto and former Indonesian President Joko Widodo. The overall “Person of the Year” title was awarded to Syria’s recently ousted leader, Bashar al-Assad.

The OCCRP attributed Tinubu’s inclusion to his alleged role in entrenching corruption during his eight-year tenure as Lagos State governor from 1999 to 2007. He has faced accusations of amassing wealth for himself and his family, as well as controversies surrounding a multitrillion-naira road project awarded to his son’s company.

Additionally, allegations of Tinubu’s involvement in cocaine trafficking in Chicago and certificate forgery were cited as factors contributing to his ranking.
