Media personality Isaac Fayose has called on President Bola Tinubu to visit Benue State following the killing of over 200 people in Yelewata community, Guma Local Government Area.
Fayose, in a video posted on social media, criticized the president’s response to the incident, saying his physical absence from the affected area reflects a lack of urgency.
“If Tinubu is truly our President and the lives of Nigerians matter to him, he should be in Benue today, not on phone,” Fayose said.
The attack occurred on Thursday, June 13, and was reportedly carried out by unknown gunmen suspected to be armed herdsmen. Eyewitnesses reported that homes were burned and residents killed, with many families displaced.
Amnesty International confirmed the killings and described the violence as part of a continuing pattern of deadly attacks in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
