Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has introduced austerity measures to reduce government spending. A recent directive limits ministers, ministers of state, and agency heads to three vehicles in official convoys, with no additional vehicles allowed. Their security personnel will also be limited to five individuals, comprising four police officers and one DSS officer.

President Tinubu previously reduced his entourage from 50 to 20 officials for foreign trips and to 25 officials for local trips. The Vice President’s entourage was also reduced to five officials for foreign trips and 15 for local trips.

Additionally, the National Security Adviser will review and reduce vehicle and security personnel deployment across military, paramilitary, and security agencies.

These changes take effect immediately, emphasizing the urgency and seriousness of reducing government expenditure.
