Tiwa Savage reveals ‘Water and Garri’ movie was inspired while drunk

Tiwa Savage, the acclaimed singer-turned-actress, generated significant buzz when she disclosed that the concept for her debut movie, “Water & Garri,” emerged while she was under the influence in bed.

The film, inspired by her 2021 EP of the same name, stars Tiwa Savage as Aisha, a thriving fashion designer, alongside actors such as Mike Afolarin.

Despite receiving mixed reviews since its release, with some critics like Daniel Regha assigning a low rating of 1.5/10, Tiwa Savage remains proud of her project.

During a recent address, Tiwa Savage shared the unorthodox origin of her movie idea, revealing that it came to her while she was alone in her room and under the influence.

This revelation has sparked a range of reactions from movie critics, with some commending her creativity and others questioning her approach. “This has been a labor of love for over two years,” Tiwa Savage stated.

“As I have mentioned previously, this idea came to me while I was under the influence in my room, and when I presented it to my exceptional team, they deemed it a brilliant idea.”
