A devastating building collapse occurred in Benin City, Edo State, on Saturday morning, leaving several students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) trapped. The incident happened on Ekhator Street, Ekosodin, a popular area among students, during a severe downpour.

A swift response from the university’s rescue team resulted in the extraction of some trapped occupants. However, multiple students sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Rescue operations are still underway, with one student remaining trapped beneath the rubble.

In a distressing turn of events, the trapped individual has made a plea for help via a phone call from within the collapsed building, prompting rescuers to intensify their efforts to locate and free them.
